The University of Aveiro (UA) was founded in 1973 and paved the way in the creation of teaching offers in several knowledge fields. A public foundation under private law since 2009, UA is widely recognized as one of the most innovative universities in Portugal, not only for the quality of its teaching and research but also for its cooperation with regional, national and international renowned enterprises. The academic community comprises approximately 17000 graduate and post-graduate students (9% of which are international students), 1400 teaching staff and researchers, and 630 technical, administrative and managerial staff. Aveiro is a city in the Aveiro Municipality (District of Aveiro) located in west-central Portugal, right by the Atlantic Ocean shore.
