Traveling by plane to Porto

The best choice to arrive by plane is Porto Airport (OPO). From there, it is possible to take the Metro do Porto to get to the Campanhã train station, which has train connections to Aveiro every half an hour. By car, it takes around 1h to travel to Aveiro (≈85 km) using the A1 or the A29 highways.

Traveling by plane to Lisbon

Should you prefer to arrive at Lisbon Airport (LIS), it is possible to take the Metro de Lisboa to get to the Oriente train station, which has train connections to Aveiro every hour. By car, it takes around 2h30m to travel to Aveiro (≈250 km) using the A1 or the A8+A17 highways.

Traveling by train to Aveiro

Aveiro’s train station is located close to the city’s center and within 30m walking distance from the University of Aveiro. Traveling by car to Aveiro

Pay attention to electronic tolls: some highways in Portugal have electronic tolls in exclusive (identified using the signage Electronic toll only), so there are no toll barriers and the electronic identification of the vehicle is made at the moment of crossing the gateway(s).
